    What we Believe About Worship:

At Hope we believe that worship is more than just singing, it is the magnification of God and the minimization of self. (John 3:30)  Worship is direct, intentional, vertical outpouring of adoration. (from "Vertical Church" by James McDonald)  In our times of corporate gathering lifting high the name of Jesus in song is all of those things.  We believe that singing praise to God is a biblical command to everyone. (Psalm 66:1-2)

Our Worship Ministry includes singing and playing instruments—and the message that our music and songs communicate is of utmost importance. Whether our music is loud or soft, fast or slow, new or old, with a full band or without matters little in comparison to the message of the song.

Worship will continue for eternity and so we believe that our preaching makes us better worshippers.  We will join with the multitudes ascribing praise to God and worship for eternity. (Isaiah 6, Revelation 3-4)  Our corporate gathering together is a small glimpse of what eternity will hold.  We desire that people meet God in worship.

    What we Value in Worship:

Biblical, truth infused lyrics The content of our singing, praying, and preaching will always be based on the truths of scripture.  We believe that the Word of God has authority and so it is our foundation for God glorifying worship.

Spirit and Truth Jesus says in John 4:24 "God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."  God does not want us to be "shoulders-up" worshippers.  He wants us to worship in truth because if we don't, we do not worship the one true and perfect God.  Our worship should be in spirit as well.  Engaging the God of the universe in worship should engage our spirit.

We Sing to God We want God to show his manifest presence in our midst every time that we gather and since we eagerly anticipate that he will be gathered with us, we sing Him with passion. (Psalm 96:1) We want to thank God for the future things that he has done, is doing, and will do in the Worship Ministry.
